Editorial Policy: How We Research
Last updated: September 2026
Our purpose
Better Weight Guide publishes independent educational content about weight management, nutrition, prescription weight-loss treatments, and online/telehealth weight-loss care. This policy explains how we create, source, and maintain that content.
Sourcing standards
- We prioritize primary and authoritative sources: the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its institutes such as NIDDK, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), official prescribing information, and peer-reviewed literature.
- Each article includes a sources section with links so readers can verify claims themselves.
- We do not invent citations. If reliable sourcing is not available for a claim, we leave the claim out.
- We distinguish clearly between what is well established, what is emerging, and what is uncertain.
Editorial voice and claims
- We write in calm, plain American English for a general audience.
- We avoid hype: no promises of fast or guaranteed results, no before-and-after imagery, no fear-based appeals.
- When discussing prescription medication, we explain that eligibility and treatment decisions require evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional.
- We never imply that a medication is appropriate for a particular reader.
Updates and corrections
Health information changes — medications gain new approvals, guidance is revised, and pricing models shift. We aim to revisit guides when material changes come to our attention and note substantive updates on the article page. If you spot an error, please tell us via our Contact page; corrections are evaluated and published when warranted.
Independence and future commercial content
Better Weight Guide is an independent informational publisher. We do not accept payment to influence the substance of our educational content. If we later add reviews, comparisons, or affiliate links, they will be governed by our Affiliate Disclosure, and commercial relationships will never be presented as medical advice or as a guarantee of results.
What we do not publish
- Fake testimonials, fabricated patient stories, or invented reviews.
- Star ratings or provider rankings presented as objective verdicts.
- Claims that compounded medications are identical to FDA-approved products.
- Content that diagnoses conditions or tells any individual which treatment to take.
